R-2R ladder type uses only two varieties of fixed resistors R and 2R. As these resistors are arranged in form of a ladder, hence the network is called as ladder network. The network shown here is a 4-bit DAC. Since the language of a CPU is binary(digital), it should be converted into into electrical signal to drive external devices. For this purpose, a DAC is interfaced with CPU. The below included video shows the demonstration of a 4 bit DAC using R-2R ladder network.
